8th Public
Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) Conference
(Barcelona, Spain, June 3 -
6, 2004)
The International
Network on Public Communication of Science and Technology will
be organising its 8th PCST Conference in Barcelona, Spain on
June 3 - 6, 2004. The main theme of this conference would be
‘Scientific Knowledge and Cultural Diversity’. The conference
will explore issues surrounding science with particulars regard
to local culture and knowledge environments. The conference has
the following sub themes :
1. Native knowledge &
modern science
2. History of science &
popularization of science
3. Science communication
& social participation
4. Fields & strategies
of science communication
Registration for the
conference begins in August 2003. The deadline for submission of

National Science Communciation Congress (NSCC-2003)
(Visakhapatnam, August 29-30,
2003)
Schedule for the NSCC -
2003 has been announced. It will be held at Visakhapatnam on
August 29 - 30, 2003. Science & Technology has great potential
to change our society in to a nation of scientifically aware and
scientifically thinking people. NSCC is an inititative towards
achieving this goal. It further aims :
1. To bring science
communicators, journalists, academicians and other interested
people together for the common cause of development of science
and technology communication.
2. To provide a forum
for the reserchers and practitioners of science communication to
discuss their views and findings in order to accelerate the pace
of science and technology communication.
There will be five
technical sessions as following :
(i) Science and media
interface
(ii) Science
communication and public
(iii) Science
communication and development
(iv) Scientific temper
and cultural system, and
(v) Science
communication in regional languages.
The technical sessions
will have presentation of contributory research papers and
invited talks. Deliberations will be in Hindi and English.
Deadline for submission

International Conference
for Science Communicators (ICSC - 2003)
(Mumbai, June 20-22, 2003)
National Centre for
Science Communiators (NCSC) is a body of Science Communicators
founded on 1st January, 1997 in Mumbai, is hosting Second
International Conference for Science Communicators on June 20,
21 and 22, 2003 at Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai
to felicitate and honour world known Astrophycists and Science
Communicator Dr. Jayant V. Narlikar who is retiring from the
directorship of IUCAA in July, 2003.
The conference will
create linkage with global networking and for this reason NCSC
has established International Union for Science Communicators.
The theme of the conference is ‘Man and Universe’.
The Conference
has been organised into following sessions :
1. Science and social
responsibility
2. Frontiers of
astrophysics and cosmology
3. Role of amateurs in
astronomy
4. Astronomy education
through planetaria
5. Astrochemistry,
astrobiology and origin of life
6. Role of museums in
science awareness.
