When Copernicus discovered that it was earth that revolves and not the Sun, he was simply stating a fact.

Science is to understand the laws of nature or in other words the process of understanding nature is science. So science is not away from nature, science manifests from nature.

Science does not create something new; it rather puts forward another application of a natural phenomenon. When man experiments with science, it could simply be like trying with a different magnitude than the nature. In orbiting of a man made satellite, in experimenting with nuclear structure and in decoding genetic structure, it could never have meant going against nature. But not recognizing the harmonious way of such acquired phenomenon is blatantly unnatural. Unnatural is unscientific as well. Science lies buried in nature. However as a science philosopher observed, nature can bury science and the world if these do not go in tandem.

Technology is a definite application of science. Technology is believed to have descended in man’s world earlier than science. This is an observational obscurity. To the man, technology bears supreme importance. Man’s quest for science began from his urge to master technological evolution as man resorted to crude replication of nature.

Nature made no secret of its reaction whenever it felt so. Many of so called technological feats have been marred by known and unknown hazards on life and surroundings. This tussel is getting keener and keener. But man in more than many terms is a quick learner and he knows that he has but no other alternative.

Is it sensible that one has to learn from his mistakes? No, a wiser one learns from other’s mistakes. But he has to keep himself abreast with the latest.

The role of communication in science is paramount because science has a lot to do with nature and (albeit) life. Science has a bearing on the way one thinks and lives.

Thinking scientific is thinking natural. Thinking scientific is establishing harmony with nature of which we talk so often. This activity could best be promoted by communicating science in a scientific way. Communication of science has therefore come up to be a evolved technique, because distortions if any here have greater ramifications. Distorted information is no less dangerous than slow poison.

The Indian Journal of Science Communication is dedicated to scientific and technological development in our society as the entire science & technology establishment is. This is to augment the efforts of the nation to channel our selves to a scientifically evolved society. It provides a platform to workout and share better methodologies and strategies for spreading of scientific culture. Scholars and contributors are invited to turn this effort into a resounding success.
